Things to do in New Orleans

“A smile starts on the lips, a grin spreads to the eyes, a chuckle comes from the belly; but a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, overflows, and bubbles all around.”

— Carolyn Birmingham

Something about laughing changes my insides, and I’m on cloud nine… this was the state my best friend and I felt traveling through New Orleans. My company does Vacation rental management and we have a knack for exploring and finding good spots; enjoy our tips 😉 If your thinking about visiting New Orleans, think music, food, history, party, exploring the various neighborhoods, and the surrounding waters. There is so much to do here; We were there 4 nights and 5 days and think you should check out the following 😉

  • Commanders’s Palace : This place kind of has it all – mouth watering food, a wine cellar, Lafayette cemetery across the street, and .25 cent martini’s… You heard right 😉 Keep in mind there is a dress code (makes it more of an experience) Try the Shrimp and Grits and the Duck. Also for a tour if you want to get the full story 🙂

  • Magazine Street : Loads of restaurants on this street that spreads over multiple neighborhoods. Check out the Ruby Slipper for a good Southern Brunch

  • Fried Chicken: You can find loads of fried chicken and it doesn’t get old 😉

  • Cafe Du Monde: This cafe was established in 1862 in the French Market and they have it down to a science. Always busy, incredible beignets and a generous amount of powdered sugar 😉

  • Cajun Seafood: Crawfish and more crawfish by the pound!

  • Frenchmen Street : You must make this a stop on your trip! With live music in just about every bar, you CANNOT go wrong. Oh and the balconies! The live street JAZZ music get’s so good that the street becomes what feels like it’s own venue… oh the jazz 🙂 . Some call Frenchman St the hipper cousin of Bourbon Street (what Bourbon Street used to be)

  • Bourbon Street: The party here is undeniable! This street offers anything you have in mind and gets real funky after 2am. Fun for a night, maybe 2 if your really feeling it 🙂

  • Carousal Bar: This is an actual carousal bar that spins as you enjoy their signature cocktails

  • Bayou Boogaloo: Outdoor Jazz festival on the Bayou. People come with super creative floats and kayaks to listen to the music in the water and on land. Hop between the 2 and don’t forget to wear sunscreen 😉 Go with the family or day party with friends – either goes here

  • Bacchanal Wine : Nola’s backyard party – day or night, live music, good wine and and cheese plates with a friendly ambience. Your going to want one of these back at home 😉

36 Questions to Love

We used these on the plane, in the morning, at night, really anywhere we had time to chat, and we do that well. Apparently designed to “fall in love,” but these questions are good with just about anyone 😉
